Collectors' Classic 1994 Kona Steel hardtail for sale.
Original Lava Dome from 1988 by designer Joe Murray, the guy who designs Vodoo frames.
The Lava Dome was – up until 2007, when it was mysteriously retired – the classic entry-level MTB in the Kona stable, RRP £500 back then.
This 1994 model had stunning understated good looks (IMHO Kona’s paint jobs have just got worse – check out the offensive 2006 version, perhaps the reason why it didn’t sell and Kona withdrew it?).
The Tange cromoly double butted frame, with its signature sloping top tube and tight rear triangle, rode like a dream – it climbed well, it loved singletrack, still an excellent hard tail frame even by today's standards
Most the original components are still on the bike -
Kona Aheadset,kona dog collar, brake rocker ,velocity stem, Race 'K' light handlebars and seatpost, kona cantilever brake levers stood the test of time, save for a few scuffs and scratches on the original kona seat. Other parts include a CODA crank
Paint job is a solid 7.5/10, wearing the british racing green, its one of the best paintjob by kona and still is today :)
Unfortunately, the original xc500 dual air fork doesnt hold air anymore :(, but all you need to do is to swap with a threaded 1 inch fork Or you can change to 1 1/8 headset and use a modern fork too.
